Biography

David joined Bickerton Lee Dang & Sullivan in 2005 where he immediately made an impact contributing to the negotiation and sale of The Hualalai Resort, including the Four Seasons Resort at Historic Ka`upulehu. This complicated asset and stock transaction involved the sale of leasehold, fee, residential, commercial, hotel, club, golf course, and agricultural land assets as well as substantial business concerns and two publicly regulated utilities. In addition to being the largest real estate sale completed in Hawaii in 2006, the Four Seasons Resort component of the transaction was a finalist for "Hotel Deal of the Year" at the 2007 The Americas Lodging Investment Summit. In addition to his continued work in the hotel, resort and real estate areas, David is developing an impressive civil and environmental litigation practice.

Prior to joining the firm, David was a law clerk to the Honorable Corinne K. A. Watanabe, Intermediate Court of Appeals, State of Hawaii (2004 - 2005).

David graduated magna cum laude from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii with an Environmental Law Program Certificate. In law school, he was recent developments editor on the University of Hawaii Law Review and the recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Domestic Ocean and Coastal Law, Hazardous Waste Law, Land Use Management and Control, Legal Method Seminar, and Second-Year Seminar. David was also the recipient of the ABA Student Award for Excellence in Land Use.

David is a 1999 graduate from Princeton University with a degree in molecular biology. After graduation, David studied various marine invertebrate species at the University of Hawaii. In addition to his published thesis on gene expression and cloning in zebra fish, David has been a contributing author to multiple, peer-reviewed scientific journals.

David is an avid photographer and enjoys hiking, gardening, and tap dancing.
