Biography

Nadine Ando has been practicing law for 25 years in Hawaii and became a partner in Bickerton Lee Dang Sullivan Meheula in 2007.

Nadine has a mixed business, professional liability, and employment litigation practice.  She has extensive experience as lead counsel in real estate, commercial, and business litigation having handled over 80 cases or matters in this area, including representing landlord and lessee in ground rent arbitration proceedings (hotel/commercial properties), breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duties arising in connection with inter-partnership disputes, mortgage foreclosure work, seller/purchaser disputes, corporate governance and control issues, hotel management agreements, and stock purchase transactions.  She recently acted for a large local tour bus and travel company in a partnership dispute related to a multi-million dollar investment venture on Maui.

Nadine has handled over 80 Professional Liability cases including the defense of attorney malpractice, attorney ethics, realtor malpractice, accountant malpractice, and stockbroker malpractice claims.  Her representation in this area has included the defense of professionals insured by The Home Insurance Company, American International Group-National Union, CNA Insurance and Reliance Insurance Company.  In addition, Nadine has handled over 50 cases in the field of employment litigation primarily involving claims of sexual harassment, sexual, race, and pregnancy discrimination, constructive discharge, and wrongful termination.  She has assisted clients responding to and defending against claims filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Hawaii Civil Rights Commission, as well as in State and Federal Courts in Hawaii.

Nadine Ando was born in Honokaa, Hawaii.  She graduated from Hilo High School and then the University of Hawaii in 1978 where she obtained her B.A. with distinction.  Nadine received her law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 1982 and was active within the University of Hawaii Law Review as an Associate Editor and an Articles Editor.  She has been an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and the Hawaii State Court Annexed Arbitration Program since 1989 and was a commissioner of the Hawaii State Ethics Commission from 2002 to 2006.
